Woodward Air-Fuel Ratio Controls
Woodward air-fuel ratio control solutions combine electronic control systems with valve, actuation, and gas mass flow metering technology into a highly-integrated solution for industrial gas engines. The control solutions are used on many modern gas engine applications in the gas compression and power generation market.
Small- to medium-sized gas engines use single-point, mixture charged gas admission technology. Large gas engines depend on port inlet gas admission valves. Woodward supports both gas admission technologies with reliable, state-of-the-art products.
Woodward air-fuel ratio control solutions are flexible and able to compensate for fuel gas quality variations. Air fuel ratio can be controlled through managing the combustion air amount through air inlet throttling, compressor bypass, turbocharger waste gate, variable turbo geometry actuation, EGR or any combination.
Woodward E3 Rich Burn control systems with StableSense™ technology include an E3 controller, inlet air throttle, fuel trim valve and oxygen sensor to provide excellent and stable control of the engine stoichiometric combustion process to enable optimized exhaust gas emission reduction with a three-way catalyst (TWC).
Woodward E3 Lean Burn Control systems include an E3 controller, inlet air throttle, fuel trim valve and oxygen sensor to provide excellent and stable control of the engine lean-burn combustion process to enable high thermal efficiency at low exhaust gas emission levels.
