    Fuel and Hydraulic Pumps for Small Industrial and Aeroderivative Gas Turbines

    Woodward fuel and hydraulic pumps leverage a long pedigree, but also include advanced technologies addressing fuel quality and system optimization issues.

    For over 50 years, Woodward has supplied hydraulic pumps integrated into mechanical governors. This pedigree was leveraged into the design of pumps used on various aeroderivative turbines to provide hydraulic system pressure for variable geometry and bleed valve applications. These highly reliable and durable pumps are still used on today’s most advanced turbines.

    In the last 20 years, Woodward has developed several fuel pump platforms that started with small aircraft turbines. Today, these platforms have evolved to include land-based turbines up to 100 MW. The robust design of these fuel pumps allows them to be used with a wide range of fuels and motors.

    For aircraft applications, Woodward has invested in research toward a variety of different advanced system and pump concepts, from variable displacement pumps to variable speed motor driven pumps. While these architectures have not migrated to the land based turbines, Woodward’s research and design teams are ready and able to provide in-depth systems analysis to determine the best solutions for a given turbine design.
